I've bought art books before. But those have mostly been the result of a knee jerk reaction like "oh, this might be cool". More often than not, these 4-lb tomes of paper become relegated to a cubby hole, or thrown a vertical pile like some cardboard cairn warning others.
But not this book.
This book is God Damn Art. I've seen Del Mundo's art before on his IG, but to see so MUCH of his work side by side and so extensively changes something. Yes, I've seen his cover work (Mystique copy machine still lives rent free in my head), but being able to see multiple X-men Legacy covers back to back to back expands on how Del Mundo can re-imagine and refresh the subject matter without getting stale. The sheer comprehensiveness of this book is a real joy as I see covers from Del Mundo that's never been on my radar (I see you Weird World).
If you're even REMOTELY thinking "hey, this art is kinda cool" then let me push you over that fence and say you should buy this book even if you have to skip a meal. Man lives not by bread alone and you should feed your artistic soul something worthwhile.
